Michaela is a library supervisor at the Kincardine and Tiverton branches of the rural Bruce County Public Library system. She has long sought out opportunities to marry literacy with the natural world, from a youth spent reading books in the seclusion of a haymow to running library programs promoting gardening and sustainability. The Kincardine Library’s Kids Veggie Garden Club created learning and literacy opportunities for children in the community garden plot of a local park through hands-on gardening, garden journals, and good-old-fashioned books.
