Mandy is the Manager of Customer Experience with Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, where she gets to be part of a team with a remarkable ability to jump in feet-first to whatever comes at them. In 2018, Mandy led a staff volunteer project to plant a pollinator garden at the Library, which turned out to be the start of a monarch butterfly rearing program, and a new focus on conservation and gardens as experiential spaces.
Sustainability, conservation, and environmental literacy are flowering in Ontario libraries. Three different libraries will discuss how to start, run, and maintain gardens, seed libraries, and butterfly nurseries, and associated community programs. They will explore the ways libraries can teach gardening skills and environmental stewardship in a time of climate change.
