The Super Conference isn’t just about sessions! We have fun things too!

So many of our past attendees have said that connecting and networking is one of the main reasons why they attend. Which is why we always want to bring exciting, fun social and non-session events to the conference. 

We encourage everyone to get out there and meet other attendees! You’ll never know who you’ll connect with or meet.

There are socials, bus and walking tours, alumni receptions, and the Public Library Award Gala. We are also excited to introduce  The Unconference Centre, where informal discussions will be taking place on set topics and themes. Tuesday, January 28:

Getting In Early on Tuesday Night? Pick up your badge from the registration desk (open from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) then join us our Early Arrivals Reception from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Wednesday, January 29:

Career Conversations & Resume Critiques: Are you striving to land that all-important first job? Been in one spot for a while now and looking to make a career shift? Or maybe you’re a student hoping to be selected for a co-op placement? Anyone interested in jump-starting their career can benefit by test-driving their skills in the friendly, risk-free environment of the Career Centre. Limited spaces available; find out more here

SPACE STILL AVAILABLE School Library Tour: On Wednesday from 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. enjoy tours of Bloorview School, which is an educational site within a rehabilitation children’s hospital, and Forest Hill Collegiate, a community school that has undergone a Library Learning Commons revitalization and reflects a deep commitment to principles of equity and anti-oppression. Stand-by-space will be first come, first served on the day of the tour. 

SPACE STILL AVAILABLE Public Library Tour: On Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. enjoy a tour of two Brampton Library branches: award-winning and LEED Gold building Springdale, and newly renovated Chinguacousy Library in Brampton Civic Centre. Stand-by-space will be first come, first served on the day of the tour. 

All Conference Welcome Party: Kick off your Super Conference with a dreamy get-together full of surprises. Come and join the party on Wednesday, January 29 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. You won’t want to miss it! Thank you to ProQuest for their ongoing support!

Thursday, January 30:

Yoga: Come and join our morning yoga class and prepare your body and mind for the day ahead on Thursday and Friday (MTCC 105 stage area) at 7:30 am – 8:15 am. Yoga mats will be provided. No registration required. Namaste. 

Games Night Social: Come and play vintage video games, Dungeons and Dragons and board games. Chat with library folks who are also interested in games. 
A fun, light-hearted night. Cash bar. Join us from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the ICTC (room TBA). 

Karaoke and Pub Night (Offsite): Cap off a full day of professional learning by belting out your favourite tunes alongside conference attendees! Or just come along and watch! Participation is not mandatory. Some drinks and snacks will be provided. Join us from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at The Pint House.

Friday, January 31:

Farewell Reception (right after the Friday Keynote): Yes, we know that your train is leaving but you can’t leave without a snack first! Prolong your conference high as long as you can, that’s our motto.
